Vivi decides to leave the Source problems behind, grasp at the chance of a new beginning, wrestle the control of his life back from the hands of Hydaelyn. The calamity can be averted, this world restored, and maybe there's a place for him... For example, in the arms of the kindly wizard that saved him when he was ready to die? Not just a wizard, but a king in all but name, soft-spoken and handsome now that Vivi thinks of it... The wizard seems interested! But he acts distant??? Something doesn't add up... Alright, detective Rell will solve this case, conquer a new lover, and make Norvrandt his new home!

✦ META: "Alright, I wanna make an elezen for this wolgraha", said I and started brainstorming keywords, ingredients I'd like to toss in. Manic pixie dream boy. Disaster. Enjoyer of life. Homme fatale. Idiot. Slut. Jerkass woobie. Open-minded, cynical, impartial, allergic to bullshit. Mirror. Summer night. Falling star. Water, refreshing, life-giving, yet deceptive and capable of drowning those who want to peer past the surface. Confident, to contrast Raha's poor self-esteem. Selfish, to further contrast Raha. His story wrote itself when I started asking "how" and "why" Vivi became those things. An unruly, fickle, freedom-loving foil for Raha (and Emet) sprung to life, a fascinating guy that keeps me entertained as much as he does his partner. So many of ViviRaha's shenanigans boil down to "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" where Vivi is the stupid prize.

He may come across as secretive (such is his personality), but the mystery's also a part of the narrative design, so to speak: no one can agree what to think of Vivi. We learn most things about him from Raha's pov. Once the plot moves on to 5.3 and the Source, the speed at which we get the vivilore accelerates as Raha's finally able to see his life with his own eyes, and Vivi also readily shares.

✦ Time's always seemed like something almost tangible, almost malleable. Even if he couldn't control it in a traditional sense, he had so much of it... Enough not to worry about it. Now that the grand plan nears its grander even finale, he finds himself grasping at seconds like a sinking man at straws.
Is it too much to want to be human? Apparently for him it is... He can't suffer anything to sabotage his plan, least of all his own weakness. ✦ The First didn't want for another colorful character, Exarch was quite enough. They've moved some pieces around while Emet-Selch was absent. Grotesque, this new scene makes him once again regret waking from his nap: yet another bearer of Azem's soul flounders around and tramples the seeds that he'd so carefully sown... A warrior of light... How did it slip past his attention while the both of them were still on the Source? Hydaelyn, how low... Emet-Selch tries to flatten his bristling emotions and put his mind back to the task. Doesn't matter... Nothing matters, just keep going... What's this mistake of a hero doing to himself?! No, this can't... This soul must be saved.

✦ META: During my third year of making Fragments I randomly tripped and fell for him so hard that I'd struggle to convince myself to keep writing wolgraha. He deserves to be happy, this guy. When the inevitable time comes, when he's gone from the main story, I'll retreat to the AU corner where he gets to live and be happy with Vivi.

✦ A falling star! Crystal mystel called someone new! And, oh, he's adorable!!! Oh, how terrifically exciting!!! A new mortal to take care of! Feo Ul has a whole two pets now! So silly, so precious, the both of them... Life's good!

✦ META: Feo Ul has no character arc, their character type is static, like a much-needed anchor for Vivi, a reset point, perhaps even a mentor figure in a way. They also serve as a mouthpiece for Vivi's hidden thoughts and impulses. Their presence in the story goes far beyond what we see in canon, so far that the very last scene in the entire comic is narrated by them.

✦ Most things begin to sound like a decent excuse for a bit of violence when Alisaie has to deal not only with this mistake of a brother, but this mistake of a hero as well. To add insult to injury, her first crush landed on Vivi, and it's an open secret that he'll never be able to return her feelings. Not that she even wants that! He's horrible and pathetic... But... The way he carries himself... Alright, let's be honest, at this point Alisaie doesn't know what she wants, and that only makes her more violent.

✦ META: She has a crush on the wol in canon, and I love her too much to handwave that crush as "eh, she simply gets over it". I want to address the crush in a thoughtful and gentle manner, walk her out of it, and point her to GIRLS. Her character arc is positive, with an eventual destination of having a girlfriend and being genuinely good friends with Vivi.
The other twin? Eh, he's also in there somewhere.

✦ META: His screentime reflects his strange borderline status in Vivi's life. They used to go out to drink and fuck (but never each other), in ShB they don't interact much as they're preoccupied with personal matters. Oh yeah also Thancred's in a relationship with Urianger.

✦ META: His introduction in the comic blindsides the reader as a random flashback from Emet's pov, and most things about him we learn from Emet as he slowly, methodically tells Vivi about his past self, one piece of the puzzle after another. Ironically, this mirrors the way Exarch chooses to reveal the information about the situation on the First, and the way he learns about Vivi throughout their story. Generally wolgraha and azemet have crazy parallels. This Azem's a sun that shines for everyone, but those foolish enough to want to get closer, to get more of him, would burn themselves to death. He haunts the narrative and permeates the air like the rotting corpse in Emet's closet.
